My North Maine Buck

Hunting has been even harder in North Maine Woods since 2007 when we had a hard spring that left many deer without food or the ability to move around. Almost 200 hundred inches fell between February and April.

There was still about 18 inches on the ground when we arrived in May that year. We still went to camp in 2008. We've been hunting this area since 2004. George had gotten a big one that year but I hadn't taken a buck in New Jersey let alone Maine.

Well, this year was the year for me. We scouted last May and George scouted in October. We went over our "spots" in November and found a place that looked promising.

The second day I sat there, this beautiful Maine buck came towards me. I took him when he was about 25 yards away with a single shot. He only went another 75 yards before he dropped.

My first buck - 10 points, dressed at 195 pounds. What a thrill.

New Auction Website for Outdoor Enthusiasts

I've been talking about it for a while and now, it's up and running. I've been pounding the internet pavement trying to get buyers and sellers. I've even order 2 print ads in a local outdoor magazine and newspaper.

I have more auctions to list and will try to get to that later tonight. Users can also open an online storefront.

Check it out, sign up and sell your stuff [and buy some more].

Well, the day is finally here. Mike Long from Uriah Creek Apiary brought 3 beehives to the Lighthouse Center for Natural Resource Education. He'll be the master beekeeper teaching me how to handle the hives and take care of the bees.

Looks like it's going to be interesting!

Chester Cipilewski for Sheriff

My cousin, Chet, was surprised to get a telephone call recently in support of his run for Sheriff of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. I offered to help him by donating the website design and hosting for his campaign website.

We had not seen each other for over 30 years and have been communicating by email for a few years now. I have followed his life and career through my relationship with his father (the love of my life) and his step-mother before they left this life and went to heaven to be with my Mom.

This week my friend and I drove to Scranton to join Chet and his friends and supporters for his "official" campaign Kick Off.

It was wonderful to see him.
